Christopher Columbus set sail on his voyage of discovery to the “new world” in 1492 in a convoy of three ships, the Pinta, Niña and Santa Maria. The island of Hispanola (now the Dominican Republic and Haiti) was his first port of call. Over 500 years later we are recreating our version of Columbus’s voyage of discovery. People with dementia, their carers and medical professionals (the three ships) will journey together on the island of Hispanola to discover how colleagues and friends from around the world are meeting the challenge of dementia. Come and join us and experience your own voyage of discovery.

The ADI conference is unique and the only international conference, which brings together a wide range of people with an interest in dementia, from people with dementia, their carers, staff and volunteers of Alzheimer Associations to medical professionals and other health and care workers. It is a dynamic and stimulating environment and a real opportunity to exchange and learn. The programme has been developed with this in mind. There will be simultaneous translation between English and Spanish of all conference sessions and plenty of time for questions and discussion to really enable participants to communicate with each other.

The programme will offer a thought provoking mix of plenary presentations, workshops, discussion forums, posters and presentations from around the world.
